Military Deployment Program

Military Deployment Program - Ben & Archie
Ben & "Archie"

Military Deployment Program provides boarding for dogs & cats for members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are deployed to combat areas in Iraq or Afghanistan.  Their pets will stay at Sugarland Ranch for the duration of their time out of the country at either no cost to the service member or with a donation if they are able.  Their Companion Pets will be cared for in our safe, loving, home-like environment.  Daily exercise, great specialized meal service, comfortable sleeping areas & plenty of love and attention will be provided to each Pet.

Sugarland’s Pet Memorials website

Sugarland's Pet Memorial

Sugarland’s Pet Memorials website was established as a place where anyone can create their beloved Pet’s own , permanent memorial webpage.  We at Sugarland share your grief & emptiness when one loses their Pet Companion(s) & have found in our own losses that writing about & memorializing our Companions can be a therapeutic part of the grieving process.

Creating your own website allows animal lovers the opportunity to write about their beloved Companions & allows them the opportunity to have private moments with their beloveds at anytime when they remain on our website in perpetuity  In addition to memorializing their beloved Companion(s), other related information is provided through links to other community & University programs that talk about grieving, death & dying that may be helpful.

All proceeds from the Memorial website support the website and all of our  community based programs.

Please know that you are not alone in your loss, everyone at Sugarland Ranch shares in the grieving & healing process through these memorial pages.

Sugarland’s PerPETual Care Program

PerPETual Care Program - Kathy & Sadie Marie
Kathy & "Sadie Marie"

Sugarland’s PerPETual Care Program is a unique program that allows Pet Owners to make arrangements for lifetime care for their dogs, cats, or horses should the Owner pre-decease their Pets.  Often Pet Owners pass away and there are no family or friends who are able or willing to care for the Decedents’ Pets and these animals often end up in the shelter system, certainly at risk for euthanasia.

The PerPETual care program allows the Owner to direct the care for their Pet(s) at Sugarland Ranch in the event of their death.  The care and necessary funding for the program can be handled by an Estate Planner or an Attorney and becomes a part of the Owners’ Wills and/or Trusts.

Retirement Home for
Senior Dogs and Cats

Retirement Home for Dogs and Cats - Precious
Precious

The Retirement Home for Senior Dogs and Cats differs from our other programs, specifically; this program accepts older dogs & cats who are at risk of euthanasia because they are difficult to re-home in permanent, forever homes.  These dogs, like “Precious”, usually have special needs and are indigent.  “Precious” was found January 1, 2009, left in the cold snow, unable to walk & had given up (“failure to thrive”).  She had a foul odor, elbows raw, fur matted, ears & eyes draining & in pain from untreated arthritis.  Our friends from Washoe County contacted us, we evaluated her & took her to Sugarland.  With good Veterinary care consisting of antibiotics, pain management, good nursing & therapy care, “Precious” can walk, needs help getting up, is happy, eating well & will live out her days with us at Sugarland.  Funds do not typically come with the animal; therefore Sugarland must raise funds for this type of care.  Adoptive homes are few and far between for this population.

Honey Bear’s County
Kennels and Farms

Honey Bear 1999 - 2007
Honey Bear 1999 - 2007

Honey Bear’s County Kennels and Farms was named after our beloved “Honey Bear”.  In 2004,  we established kennel operations as a revenue producing program and the “bricks & mortar” foundation for all other programs.  We currently have 42 large & spacious, climate controlled kennels, 6 exercise areas, & a specialized meal service & medication administration when needed.  We have enjoyed a strong following and continue to provide boarding services for our canine and feline friends.

Mastiff Rescue Operations

Bubba Bear 2001 - 2008
Bubba Bear 2001 - 2008

Mastiff Rescue Operations was established in 1998 and was expanded once Sugarland Ranch was incorporated in 2001 as a non-profit community based agency.  To date, we have re-homed approximately 70 dogs.  We have also assisted with re-homing dogs other than the Mastiff breed by coordinating with shelters and other agencies.
