Vaccination and Other Requirements

Requirements for Boarding:  Updated 2021

The following are the vaccinations that are required along with a brief explanation. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate contacting us.  All vaccinations must be administered by a licensed Veterinarian or a licensed Veterinary Technician as required by the State of Nevada Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

We require current copies of all relevant vaccinations at the time of boarding.

Parvo/Distemper:  This can be a one year or three year vaccination.

Rabies: This can be either a one or three year vaccination and must be administered by a licensed Veterinarian

Bordatella: We require that the Bordatella (canine cough) be current within SIX MONTHS of boarding.

Canine Influenza:  The vaccine covers serotypes H3Nn8 and H3N2.  Vaccinating for Canine Flu requires 2 vaccinations 3-4 weeks apart, dependent on individual Veterinarian protocols.  Pets are not “protected” by viral antibodies until approximately 2 weeks after the booster.  Much like the human flu, dogs may be susceptible during the vaccine period as well as after the full series.    After the initial series, this vaccination is an annual booster. If your dog is overdue for the vaccine by 6 weeks, again pending individual Veterinarian protocols, the series may need to be restarted.

Early in 2021, local Veterinarians were made aware of a new outbreak of Canine Influenza in Florida. Since then, the outbreak is being monitored. There reportedly has been a confirmation of a case in Los Angeles, CA. Due to the highly infectious nature of Canine Influenze & the proximity of cases, we continue to require this vaccination, especially if your dog will be exposed to other dogs, even though in the Sugarland Ranch environment we do not mix Clients’ dogs.

OTHER RELATED BOARDING REQUIREMENTS

If you have had your dog(s) at another boarding facility, doggie day care, grooming program, Dog Park and/or any other program where your dog(s) has been in contact with other dogs, we require at least a 10 day lapse between your dog(s) attendance at any of these other programs and boarding at Sugarland Ranch.

Credit card information for emergency veterinary use during your dog(s) stay at Sugarland Ranch.

Local emergency contact if you are going to be out-of-area while your dog(s) is being boarded at Sugarland Ranch.
