We now have “Mr. Biggy Bear” available for adoption.  “Mr. Biggy Bear” was rescued by our friends at Washoe County Regional Animal services.  He was found roaming the streets of Reno w/out any identification tags.  He is a healthy, male, purebred Old English Mastiff.  A great disposition and needs to be with a couple who lead an active Ranch style of living.  He prefers being outside, although could slowly be acclimated to inside.  He seems to have an issue with being confined in small spaces. He’s a sensitive guy and needs time to adjust to new situations.  He is playful, requires leash training, is loving and very sweet.  He’s about 160 lbs., approx. 4-5 yrs. old and is a lot of powerful Mastiff to handle.  We are looking for experienced Mastiff folks, adults only because we do not know his history with children.  He could potentially be integrated with other large dogs within reason.  Here’s a picture of our “Mr. Biggy Bear”.  He is quite a character and will make that special family/couple or single person an absolutely wonderful companion.

Our current Mastiff program is requiring resources for on-going and likely lifetime, medical, behavioral and geriatric care at Sugarland Ranch for the other Mastiffs who will remain with us at Sugarland Ranch, therefore our capacity to accept more Mastiffs is rather limited at this time.

We frequently receive calls from Owners attempting to relinquish their Mastiffs and/or calls from the various Shelter programs notifying us of Mastiffs desperately in need of re-homing.  We are actively providing assistance with:

bulletInformation and Referral.
bulletScreening for behavior and/or medical complications as well as assistance with referral to Veterinarians.
bulletCounseling Owners who want to re-home their Mastiff, and coordinating with people who are looking to adopt a Mastiff.
bulletNecessary documentation including, but not limited to, a screening tool, foster care and adoptive care Agreements.
bulletOn-going support through the re-homing process.

You may contact us at 1-800-713-7177 regarding services we are able to provide and/or to discuss specific situations and/or individual Mastiffs.
