Sugarland Ranch is searching for Anna Bear’s “forever” home. Anna Bear is a very,
very special purebred, spayed, black female Neapolitan Mastiff puppy, now 10 ½
months old. Her birthdate is April 12, 2008. She is absolutely adorable, full
of puppy energy and we would like to re-home her as soon as we can so she can
bond with her new family sooner rather than later. Neapolitan Mastiffs, known
as “Neos”, have by nature a dominant personality and they need a master. Their
world revolves around their master forming an intensely strong attachment to
their owner and their home. They tend not to wander from the property because
their reason for living is the property and their master. They area a steady,
loyal companion, second to none. A Neo master needs to have an innate
understanding and interest in animals and an ability to communicate on the
animal’s level to be able to successfully own a Neo. Neapolitans need and
require attention, discipline and human companionship. They are large,
powerful, vocal and can be a tremendously messy canine! Get her “slobber rag”
out. We encourage and in fact require any prospective applicant to read up on
this phenomenal breed before contacting us and prefer that the successful
adoptive home have experience preferably with Mastiffs, but at a minimum with
large breed dogs.
Anna Bear currently weighs 97 lbs and will grow until Mastiff maturity at
approximately 3 y.o. She comes from excellent Neapolitan stock, Del Feudo
Nisseno, straight from Italian lineage. She was the 11th born by
Caesarian section and although all her littermates are “normal”, little Anna Bear
was born with some orthopaedic challenges in her hindlimbs. Specifically, Dr.
Davyd Pelsue of Veterinary Specialists of Nevada has diagnosed “luxating
patellas” in both of her stifle joints (“knees” is the human counterpart) as
well as some other related problems. The good news is that with corrective
surgery at such a young age, “little” Anna Bear will likely live a relatively
normal life. Anna Bear came to us specifically for this specialized veterinary
care and rehabilitation. Her rescue and adoption is a collaborative effort
between Del Feudo Nisseno & Sugarland Ranch. Sugarland Ranch is now actively
seeking donations to fund the necessary surgeries.
We believe that it is in Anna Bear’s best interest to be adopted sooner rather
than later so that her recovery will be optimized by that 1:1 loving care in a
home setting that she will receive from her new family. Also this will greatly
facilitate the wonderful bond between Anna Bear and her new family.
Sugarland Ranch requires that any family interested in Anna Bear first and
foremost read about Neapolitan Mastiffs as we previously suggested. We believe
that whoever is fortunate enough to add Anna Bear to their family must be in love
with this breed and understand the Neo disposition, they are not for the
novice dog owner. We also require that a Family Profile be completed
and sent to us either by fax or by mail. Unfortunately our website is not
constructed to handle email unless of course someone scanned a completed Family
Profile and sent it to us via email.
If you are interested in adopting, please submit a “Family
Profile”
(click on “Family Profile”
& the form should pop right up)
by faxing it to us at 1-775-970-5183 or mailing it to us at: 3510 Matterhorn
Blvd., Reno, NV 89506. Please do not stop by without scheduling an
appointment.
If you would like to donate to the Anna Bear Project, you may
do so by submitting your donation online on our website or by sending a check to
the above address. For any questions, please don’t hesitate contacting Robyn at
1-800-713-7177. All calls will be returned.

to help Anna Bear with her special needs. - Thank You
This little girl is very, very special. For those of you who have had a Neo in
your lives, you can appreciate how excited we are to be able to help her get the
care that she needs and find Anna Bear her “forever” home. Neos become attached
to their master like no other breed and that is why it is so very important for
us to successfully find her an appropriate home. Adopting a Neo should not be
taken lightly; they have a very distinctive personality and consume lots of time
and certainly resources. Anna Bear is a brave little Neo and she has a lot to
contend with in the next few months but all of our efforts will certainly be
worth every donation dollar and all of our time to ensure this little Neo can
live a full and healthy life with her new family.
Thanks for reviewing our website and this information.
